Write Now

Some recent thoughts/poetry:

When will you write? they ask.
When I learn to make my own coffee
Grow beans
Find a home
Raise my kids

How’s the writing going?
I can identify a few stars.
I can tell sparrows from swallows
One daughter is in grade school
The other almost there
We remodeled our basement

Now?
Sycamores and chestnuts
Now high school

When will you start a program?
Cottonwoods fluff in spring
Off to college, both
Visits to their city
Running
A garden

Have you done any poetry?
Graduation and work
Downtown big buildings
Yoga
Spinach and chard
A dress with matching shoes
Yoga

What’re the girls up to?
I’ve started writing

*****

I spent the morning at the Masonic Temple that’s now an event venue. Our photography program is taking over the building and using it for shoots and movies all week. I spent yesterday doing a few things to help and research my own shoot.

My aunt is not doing well. She fell early this morning while at home, broke two ribs, fractured vertebrae and has some swelling in her lung. She wasn’t in good shape before.

Then this morning I also got a call from the place my parents are at. Appears mom refused to take her insulin and had it in her head I was taking her to the doctor. I told them that wasn’t accurate and let them manage it. There’s no words to describe the relief. No words. My life was taken over by people who were unreasonable and non-compliant. It makes you crazy.

So my aunt’s good friend in town there is running into the same thing w/ my aunt. Fear that has driven you to create a world that has defined parameters. You work to keep that life the way it is.

So I felt somewhat overwhelmed yesterday. I had a mid-afternoon drink and some food w/ Jay, then a visit at home and I went to our last night of improv which was amazing. I think I’m going to do it again next fall. The group really bonded, and it sounds like it’s kind of a thing in terms of how to create community. I wish it wasn’t over.
