Curry Me Electricity

After photography class today, I ended up in a conversation with a couple of the other people in class, two women. One talked about abuse and her past, her sister’s past. She talked about a website she was working on where she interviewed women, took their photos and told their stories. She’s already working on a website for it all.

I mentioned briefly my project with the photos, the driving, the therapy, the content. She said she got chills up and down her body while I was talking, like electricity.

We had group tonight and it was powerful. We talked about community and group and people having no one or anywhere to go, like, it’s an epidemic. I ordered curry from a local take-out guy that does it once a week. I’m frustrated with Jay and his disconnection from life, basically, anything but work and now conversations with his bio mom. It made me grateful for group.

But basically, that story of how she responded to my story, that’s all that I really need to talk about for today.

The question is mainly just how to get that book published and maybe, a series of books.

I need to do it for someone other than myself. I need to make it happen.

I have other obligations. Keep myself healthy. Help my parents move. Do a few things at work. But I need to start putting some pieces of this project together.

I need to keep the ball moving down the court.

I need to treat it like a job.

I need to take it seriously.

It’s up to me to share the stories.
