Here and Gone

We met at the folk's house with a coordinator for elder care services with dementia.

The visit went well. She was informative and have valuable services.

We had a good discussion afterwards as well. My step-sister had left, and we all ate the food I'd brought from the store. They were eager to eat and not have to make something. I'm convinced my Mom is tired of cooking, but won't say that. She even contradicted herself in the same day, being so grateful for me bringing food and then telling the care coordinator she loved to cook. This craziness is what I'm dealing with.

I made a note a year ago in a journal: Dusting and caring for aging parents are the same in that you never know when you're done.

I don't know if I'm doing enough or too much. I am trying to do my part and support them in this house in the country. My step-sister and husband do most of the hand's on work, but I'm spending hours researching and trying to understand the finances, doctor's calls and options, wills, etc. It's very time-consuming and never pleasant. It takes energy and gives nothing back.

Jay reminded me that it's good I'm doing it, but I have to have breaks. He's right.

Tonight we went out and processed some of it all, and I rested at home and packed.

Starting off the week helping then skipping out of town.

Cool It
