Today we headed to Seattle to take my old dresser to El. She's moving into her own apartment for the first time, in Ballard.
She liked the idea of having it, even with the faint circle of her sister's toddler poop stain on the top. Oh yeah, that's when she scaled everything, then marked it.
I told my Mom we were taking it over. She said she'd bought it from an antiques dealer on North Monroe. It's oak, and he had restored it to have the off-white and gold finish it has now. It needs to be stripped and cleaned up someday. It's heavy. You realize these things when you try and move furniture.
We couldn't find the right-size UHaul in town so had to go to Post Falls. Here's this giant UHaul truck with a tiny dresser inside. C'est la vie.
I had lunch with an employee before we left then headed out of town together. Jay drove the truck and I drove the car. We ate in Seattle with the kids, stayed with Kate.
Getting out of town, away from it all. It's usually a positive reset button. Seattle is cold but not freezing like Spokane. It was sunny.
Seeing the girls is always the treat.
We needed a weekend and it's a bit of a working weekend with the dresser, but still okay.
