18 Week 8

There's a LOT happening this month. Jay's bio dad and family entered the scene thanks to DNA kits for Cmas. I'm deep into Lifespan work. We've hired new people. We're healing. We're changing.

Last year at this time, the mass exit at work started and this year, we're like a tree growing new shoots in the dead of winter. We both feel it.

So with all the change, I decided February might be the month to see what the marijuana fuss is all about. Tried a spray and some edibles, only with CBD. Pretty disappointing. I was hopeful to have some help w/ the PTSD anxiety as I'm processing things. Turns out it isn't for me, and I'm glad to be finding other ways to cope without substances.

I went to a store up near where there are a lot of people I know. Just like I don't understand what it's like to be racially profiled, most people don't understand how hard it can be to survive with PTSD. If pot helps folks with tough mental health issues, more power to them. I hope they can find help through other mental health tools as well, but sometimes medications are a part of the toolbox. Honestly, the more I learn about Big Pharma and what legal drugs do to your body, I'm in favor of finding other ways to cope.

We had government food assistance for about six months back in 2010 when the business was really struggling. We shopped late at night in stores around town, not in our neighborhood. We were mortified. We weren't ready to talk about it or be seen.

This time, I was fine being seen. I was fine talking to anyone that wanted to talk.

We spent the weekend in Seattle with many special moments like surprise D/D for Jay's bday, dinners in and out, meeting the bio dad and enjoying greener weather. We also made it over the pass w/o crashing or arguing.

It's been a week and it's been a month and it's been a lifetime. I'm glad we're heading to the Oregon Coast.
