We spent the day driving around to the different lava flows that have emerged since last spring.
Beaches and subdivisions have been completely reordered as tons of lava flowed and took over land and often created new beachlines. People moved permanently and some tried returning.
We were in awe of the fields of new lava and the beaches that had been redesigned. It was a calm day, quiet chatter between the three of us and just some interesting sites to take in.
I felt strangely calm all day, didn’t have my usual strange ups and downs that have been the hallmark of my life to date. It’s eery to have this amount of peace and change.
I’ve been in a new place all week, meeting new people and seeing new things. I’ve been accepting it all, taking it in, enjoying and not being fussy.
It’s a miracle.
In the place of all that, I’ve found beauty and calm instead.
