Mom Memories

Had a nice lunch w/ Mom and helped me feel more calm actually. We connected it seemed over talking about our old neighborhood and my old dresser we took to El. We talked about how she found it, how it was refinished just recently from being plain oak, and that she thinks she paid about $100 for it which was a fair amount in 1968.

We were also talking about the old neighborhood I grew up in. She said it was great for kids and grandkids because of the playground. She said one time she was over there with our girls. She said it was time to leave and she started calling Kate's name. She couldn't find her anywhere... she looked in all the play equipment that had hiding holes, etc. She was starting to get worried.

Finally she heard a voice that said, "Look up Grandma!" She looked up and Kate had scaled the basketball pole and was on top of the backboard.

I can see KT doing that and being thrilled that she was invisible to her grandma. I can also see her doing the climbing.

I'd rather have these times with my mom than buy her gifts or do much else. They seem like important memories and times. She loved that El had my old dresser.

I keep trying to connect and hope they continue to stay healthy.
