Not a great day in terms of meetings, but we survived. We heard a Holocaust speaker tonight at the Convention Center. It was sold out. I've never been in a large ballroom with over a thousand people and you could hear a pin drop.
Dr. Jacob Eisenbach is a small man in person, a former dentist. He talked about his childhood growing up, how the Nazi's invaded, how he hid and how he escaped. Much of his family died, and he survived and then thrived due to immigrating to the US. He had a relative here.
Stories like these put your own issues into perspective. They also make you realize freedom can be taken at any time, and good people didn't see this coming or stop it.
I needed to hear his wise and sobering words. It reminded me people have suffered greatly, and still been able to thrive afterward. He has amazing resilience and is an amazing example for me on many levels. How many times could he have given up, said the pain was too much? He didn't and neither can I.
