I started the day w/ an announcement via email that a prominent artist had been dismissed from the organization he founded due to inappropriate behavior. It indicated he had created a hostile work environment and bullied people, basically.
When I see how easy it is to go to your shadow, I find solace in having had two mental breakdowns that kept me looking at myself in often agonizing detail. I haven't had the luxury to continue living a lie; I was just trying to survive.
This is when I realize how uneven things work out in life, actually, and that what you want is often going to give you what your soul truly needs.
I didn't get fired today from anything. Instead, I saw the acupuncturist who's helped me so much, spent the afternoon working on a yard project with my nephew and that was that. He has PTSD as well so we've had a few talks about that in the last month or so. He is not successful materially in any way, but he's a lovable guy and I'd love to see him get on his feet again. PTSD is a bitch and hard to recover from w/o some specific assistance. I'm hoping he can get it and wondering how we can help more.
It really is about what you make of life, not what you think is out there somewhere that might be better. It's these people, right now, and often not super sexy. Mediocre, but not really.
