The Mind

Going through a Pack of exercises in Headspace on Depression.

You can only get to the topic-specific packs after doing the Basic series.

These are phenomenal exercises and this is from Day 3 in Pack One on Depression:

"Interesting if you look at the type of or aspect of mind or of the quality of mind that we’re using for this exercise. Ordinarily, we are heavily reliant and dependent on thinking, that cognitive, intellectual, rational mind, if you like, yet so often so irrational part of mind.

The problem of course is we can’t use the thinking mind to get ourselves out of this situation because it’s the thinking mind that got us into it in the first place. You’ll have already tried it I’m sure, trying to think your way out of depression, trying to think your way out of sadness or frustration. It simply doesn’t work and it’s also exhausting.

So we need to find another way. We can’t rely on that aspect of mind.

That aspect that we need is awareness."

This lines up with one of my favorite lines from Kay: Thoughts are not fact. Feelings are not facts.

I learning. I learning. I stretching. I learning.
