That Space

Long week already of buying and researching things for the new office.

Purchased a table, a big one, for the break area. It’s an open floor plan so you are in that space pretty quickly as soon as you walk in the room.

As a result, I wanted it to be welcoming and attractive. We went with a more expensive table over a cheaper one from IKEA.

When I feel crappy about all we have or haven’t done, I look at this new space and go wow. We worked on this for well over eighteen months, getting the new space sourced and then designed. We’ve now picked out furniture and all that stuff that goes along. Found a new janitor, etc. Just so much to do, and we’re doing it all from scratch.

I’m proud of our hard work.

Went to the district meeting tonight and listened as the various positions that have been elected and selected were transitioned. Much different than last month with a ton of contention and discord.

Things can change.

Office spaces change.

People change.

Relationships change.

In one of my favorite episodes of the Managing Anxiety pack on Headspace, he talks about how each thought is a new thought. We feel we’re destined for this pattern of thinking but anything can be changed.

What does that sound like?

A Jesus-y thing. A spiritual thing. Something I’d heard but didn’t understand. I don’t think anyone knew how to teach how to do that, because we’ve been so afraid of meditation and anything mystical in the church.

Now, a former Buddhist monk brings some perennial wisdom to us all in a package we can manage and digest.

So lots of work done today that felt good at the office. Ready to get things chores done and settled for good.
