Intentional Rewards

I’ve been doing meditation through Headspace for over a year, on and off. I’m not great at the daily routine though no good reason why.

One thing I’ve learned is how my immediate thinking changes based on what’s the most stressful thing in my life. So my active, conscious thinking I guess changes daily based on what I decide is most stressful or threatening.

That means my actions then that follow that will be inconsistent and somewhat harried. Hurky-jerky, not necessarily driven by good goals, desires or values.

This seems like a huge revelation for me or anyone wanting to lead a life that is intentional. A life that is based on values and ideas that you want to undergird your decisions.

Anxiety and being driven by anxiety and fear means you’re just reacting to whatever your body feels is the biggest threat or sadness you’re trying to avoid in that day or moment.

It’s living life defensively at best.
