These are some of my favorite days at the beach w/ my aunt.
She bought a flat decades ago out here in the Sunset when it was an unknown area except largely for immigrants and surfers. Now it’s gained more interest but still stays somewhat hidden due to the fog. People don’t like the weather; my aunt loves it.
This home has been her sanctuary. She loves the ocean, the isolation, her cats and this beautiful little flat. She’s met many interesting people as a result of having a small studio below she rents out, mostly international students studying at the local universities. Some have become her best friends.
She’s an incredibly strong person. She’s someone I really look up to, someone that’s helped me step into a stronger, richer life. It’s nice to be related, and we look like we could be twins.
We did some cleaning in her den, alot of papers and mail. We had dinner she’d made then watched BBC shows.
These are the kind of days I’ll remember with fondness.
